AVOIDABLE TORMENTS FROM AVOIDABLE FEARS
Sometime ago, I did post on this platform the aftermath of fear on people’s life, destiny and progress from day to day. I called that post, “Needless Torments from needless fear”. Today however, I want to revisit that post, shape it a bit and add one or two things to it. this is because
of the unmistakable place fear and hope have in our lifes daily, and their contribution to our daily existence. My aim therefore is to remind you that there is really nothing to worry about in this life, for as far as we live,. . . there Is hope!
Now, I see no need to define the entity called “fear”, for from time to time, we have all experienced the influence of this universally recognized emotional monster on our lives, be it intentionally or otherwise. So, instead of choking you with millions of definitions of the subject matter- fear, I’ll rather try to describe it with scenarios. I’ll still do that but let’s digress a bit.
The question is, “at what instance can we experience fear”? Where does the fear even come from? Why do get afraid and do the things we do the way we do them? Now, it’s simple. Fear is the direct opposite of hope. Truth is , fear sets in when hope is on leave. Fear and hope occupy the same portion in the heart of man at any particular instant of time. That means one has to leave for the other to take position and become the master for that season. Both don’t stay together, they don’t interweave. Fear and hope are antagonist, one fighting the other to exercise prominence on their slave, the mind of man. So our mind is a battle ground but then, it is the greatest seat of decision.
Why then do we develop fear? We develop fear when we give room to preconceived thoughts and imaginations that tend to see the negative side of us more than our positives. We are blessed by our almighty creator, and fed with every potential to succeed, but not fear. Its fear that tells us we can’t make it, and just then hope whispers, “yes, you can”. Now, just as we’re about to take a definitive move to greatness, an agent of fear comes around, imparts more fears to us, and make us more fearful than we were initially, leaving us with little hope.
So you see, we tend to graduate from a state of indecision to a stable of confusion, for at that moment, our mind is at war. . . .and of these guys must win. A large portion of our inner-man has been won over by fear, because we devoted so much time to thoughts that promote feebleness, ineptness, inability and loss. In fact, sometime we think we should fail, we think we can’t make it, we think we’re incompetent. To worsen it all, we share our despair with fellows with mind-sets such as ours and this count to our woes. So they tell us we can’t make it, we’re incompetent, we’re inept, we’re unable. . . . and we believe them.
Listen dear, that your friend cannot make it doesn’t mean you can’t, except you are your friend. Except your friend is you, then you’re your friend. Think about this from all angles of life; physically, psychologically, emotionally, academically and otherwise. At the end, you’ll only come to realize that your friend is not you, neither are you your friend. You are unique, you are who you want to be. And you can always afford to borrow some fear from your friend if you care. Will you?
The people you tell your anxiety and worries to matters a lot. Never you tell it to someone who sells despair, anxiety and worries. that is if you have to reveal it at all. Be careful and do not buy from such, and don’t sell same yourself. If you have any fear, try and engage your mind on positive things in life. Try and relate such your uncertainties with people who can help and not break you down. I know you’re afraid, yes we sometimes are. But at that moment it begins to spring up in our hearts, we try to look at the positive sides of life, where we are, where we have been, and how we can be what we ought to be.
For me, the first thing I realize is that i have a very BIG God, who loves me so much and never wants me to be afraid, never! Infact, He gets angry any time i try to initiate any characteristics of fear. He says, I am very unique and i believe Him, yea. I remember Also that there is no other person with my kind of face, mindset or ability in the whole world. Yes, it’s true but if you doubt me, go checkout if you’ll see anyone in this whole world that is me. Truth is people can either be more or less than me in one thing or the other, but NOT exactly me. Have you seen how i carefully avoided the
word, "LIKE"? So, if you’re out there and expect to be appreciated by all and sundry, and when they don’t do so, you start getting afraid that you’re not that welcome, then you have to read those lines again. Remember, that is why they use the word, “LIKE” to compare you and others. they say, you're "LIKE" so and so.
This is how to tackle Mr. fear if you fed up with him. Start thinking of the beautiful things of life, and imagine the awesomeness of yourself and your creator. Remember that no matter what may happen, there is no harm in trying. . .so forge ahead, and believe you’re not the only person on earth to ever experience what you’re currently going through. Others might have been or are still in the mess you’re currently going through, so why the worry? Just make friends with them and ask them how they came out of it. They sure will have a good solution for you. remember, once the emotional war is won, that of the physical becomes a small thing. Get engaged with productive things, and if you're already engaged, aim at perfecting it !
That is how to tackle fear. Remember to cage it out of you mind. Keep good thoughts around you, and use that to cane Mr. fear the next time it comes around. Its only then that hope will have a good ground to breed, yielding everlasting fruits of joy, happiness and fulfillment. Remember, you could avoid that torment you would be going through if you avoid that fear that is about to spring out from your mind and sink you. Yes, i mean that one! Lock it out if its already in and lock in hope, faith and the right mentality. This is the way.
